I hear a buzzing sound from my Desktop case. I have a HP P6792uk. I have recorded the sound and uploaded to my Google Docs account https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B1Tan13i1a63bjRYa
Windows 7 Home Premium (64 Bit) Service Pack 1
Norton Internet Security 2012
Internet Explorer 9
AMD Phenom II x6 1035T (This is the default processor. HP shipped by this processor and said the printing online is an error).
AMD ATI Radeon HD6570

TYW7, welcome to the forum.
After listening to the sound, I am not certain what could be causing it. It actually could be the power supply unit or sound device. I suggest opening the case and listening more closely. This may allow you to tell where the sound is originating.

safe to open the case. Sounds like one of the fans is hitting something, maybe nearby cable. PSU should have more of a 60HZ hum if it is the source.

I had the same problem - sounded like a truck idling - my desktop HPE-530f has 3 fans. I isolated the offending fam to be the fan on the ATI graphics card. Called HP since the desktop is still under warrenty and after painfully going through the standard debugging questions - convinced them to send a replacement card.

I too isolated it to the GPU fan (the fan on the ATI graphic card). I stopped the GPU fan by my hand and the noise stopped.
P.S. when they sent the card, they they sent a brand new one or a used one? Did it come in an ATI box
or opened? Also, did the replacement card make the same noise as the old one (or did they sent you a better one
)?

Definately the GPU fan as stopping it stops the noise as well...

Got the "new" card - can't say for sure if it's new or not - but I can tell you the fan is still louder than I would have like - not as bad and the original card - but annoying enough that I might just put a piece of tape on the blades to stop it.
