I have an h8-1010 desktop computer running windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit
The TS-H653T DVD drive is no longer being recognized by the system.
Here is the message: Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)
I have made no changes to the system in the past couple of weeks; the problem just started today.
I would greatly appreciate any help.

From Device Manager right click the DVD drive and select 'Uninstall'.Restart the machine to allow Windows to reinstall/refresh the driver.

That was the first thing I tried.
After restarting, the system just gave me the message that it was unable to install the driver.
I also tried the Fixit solution (same as the one suggested in the second reply) and I got the same result.

A registry problem was detected. This can occur when more than one service is defined for a device, if there is a failure opening the service registry entry, or if the driver name cannot be obtained from the service registry entry.
Try these options:
- Click Uninstall the driver, and then click Scan for hardware changes to load a usable driver.
- If the device is a CD or DVD drive, follow the procedure in Article ID 929461 on the Microsoft Web site (http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=192798).
- Restart the computer in Safe Mode, and then select Last Known Good Configuration. This rolls back to the most recent successful registry configuration.
