You can install up to an Intel Pentium C2D E7600 in the dc7700 with the latest BIOS revision (v1.16 of 11 Oct 2011).

Hi Paul, I'm trying to find the bios v1.16 of 11 Oct 2011 that your talking about.
Hi don't find it on the HP support web site.
Is it possible that this FW has been removed ?!
I want to upgrade my CPU in my DC7700 mini convertible tower.

it is there under XP...
You can only run it in the windows environment if you are running vista or XP.
DO NOT flash the BIOS in the windows environment if you have installed W7, as there is a very good chance you will wreck the PC.
...and as DasShrubber stated, if you install an E7600, it will not run right.
HP was notified, but nothing was ever done about fixing the BIOS update.
Basically the E7600's CPU clock speed is only 533 Mhz instead of 1066 MHz as it should be.
I don't know what would happen if you installed the E7400.
Maybe that would work.
It is an older processor than the E7600.
