Card reader update to read SDHC cards?

Is there a firmware update to allow the card reader to read the SDHC cards?

I have winXP SP3 update on my 3 HP computers, but none of them can read my 4GB SDHC card. I tried to install hotfix, but the message says I have newer version and don't need to install. Any suggestion?

I also have XP SP3...my SD reader will not read a 4gb SDHC card...the card manufactor says it's hardware , not software that is needed to read the hi-cap type 4's...

My printer SD reader WILL read the SDHC card...is there a way to 'export' to the card in the printer?

Hi, I have vista and my card reader still can't read any HCSD cards.  All drivers are up todate.  Reads normal SD cards just fine.

I also just tried that hotfix, with the same result. I am using an M7680N with XP SP3. Is there a soft/firmware update, or do I need to replace the card reader itself? Can I replace it with a newer one?

Any help would be nice. Thank you.

In response to "Is there a firmware update to allow the card reader to read the SDHC cards?"  It is a hardware problem, not a firmware problem.  It would be nice if it was just a firmware, however the card reader needs to be updated to one that is meant to reader the newer version of SDHC cards.  If the card reader is built in to an older desktop/laptop then get an external USB card reader for the newer SDHC cards.  Verify that it works with your media card or take it back until you get one that does work.

I thought it was hardware too but then I downloaded 3 different hotfixes. The 1st 2 failed to help but this one worked for me: sp35308.exe. They may be for different readers so find out who makes yours and search around a bit.

Read the above posts. Your card reader is probably too old if it's one of the built-in types. I had to get a USB card reader to use my SDHC cards. The older ones will only read up to 2MB cards, anything over that is SD High Capacity (SDHC).
