Chirping and clicking sounds coming from computer

I have a HP Pavilion a6200n Desktop PC computer and my monitor died so I bought a new one and it works fine as does everything else, BUT now I keep hearing a chirping and clicking sound at random times from the computer. Sounds like a cricket eating it o.O

I never had this sound before what would cause this.. it's quite annoying? I checked all the connections and everything is connected properly.

Re: Chirping and clicking sounds coming from computer

Hi,

Open up the PC and see if you can locate the source of the noise.  It might be a hard drive or a fan or somehow a wire is now getting into one of the fans.

Re: Chirping and clicking sounds coming from computer

Yes I had already opened the computer and checked all the connetions, no wires are blocking the fans and the connections are all proper. Again, the computer made no such noises like this a week ago until I installed the new monitor. I've installed the proper monitor drivers and it is working fine, just these random clicking and chirping noises from somewhere insode the computer but I can';t narrow down from where. The hard drive and everything else works fine as well (the cpu fan an extra fan on the vent are turning properly as well). I can't really tell where the sound is coming from, it seems as if something is trying to reconnect but everything is working fine. Just the odd sounds.

Check to see if it's comming from the power supply, I've had a power supply made odd sounds on me before.

Re: Chirping and clicking sounds coming from computer

Hi,

If necessary use a stethoscope.  Automobile repairs shops use them to find noises.

[ Edited ]

I did a diagnostic test on my PC and everything came up clean except one test on the hard drive so doing a more intensive one tonight to see if it can be fixed or if it's on the way out. *sigh* just replaced a monitor now this

Re: Chirping and clicking sounds coming from computer

I ran a full diagnostic and get basically the same error on the second surface scan. I am now running the Seagate Seatools for DOS diagnostic to see if it can repair any issues or have to start looking for a new drive.
