Compaq Presario v3000 (V3230AU) BIOS Password Reset

Hi Guys

I have a client that has brought in a

Compaq Presario V3000 (V3230AU)

and they have advised that they've forgotten the BIOS password which is set to not only disable access to BIOS but the entire machine.  I have spent quite a bit of time trying to resolve this including removing the laptop battery, BIOS battery, disconnecting AC power, leaving overnight, reconnecting BIOS battery and connecting only the AC power as per instructions I found via a link to a Compaq PDF file but still no go.  I am suspecting those instructions may have worked with older laptops but not the newer ones.

Any idea's on how to resolve this problem eg. Master Password or will it need to be sent to Compaq.

Thanks in advance for any help.

David

Re: Compaq Presario v3000 (V3230AU) BIOS Password Reset

In case this helps I forgot to mention that incorrect password a couple of times reports:

System Disabled [08254]

Wasn't sure if this number was necessary for a master password or just a standard error code.

Thanks again

David

I am not sure if it is still the case but it used to be that the CMOS chip could be removed from its socket. Maybe try that+removing the BIOS battery at the same time?
