Computer won't turned on. [ Edited ]

It won't power up. The led on the back on the power box remains solid bright when I unplug the motherboard power supply connector. But it dims when I connect the ac cord while the motherboard supply line is also connected!! Does this means the motherboard is bad news?? Please help!

Hi,

There could be a lot of reasons and combination of things causing your problem. It sounds like you're "up" for doing a little self administered troubleshooting! Here's a link to a page with a lot of troubleshooting steps for HP power supply issues.

Thank for the link. That day i put everything back together, and left the ac power cord in. After a few minutes like 30 - 40 mins, it turned on and everything worked fine. I shut it down, unplugged the cord, plugged it back in.. it won't start.. I left the cord again and it worked again... Do you think maybe the CMOS battery on the motherboard is low in charge and need to be replace??
