DX 2200 ram replacement problem.

I have an HP DX2200 and one of the 1G ram boards went bad.  I have tried 2 different replacements from compusa and neither work (Kingston and PNY) .  The Kingston showed a compatibility char that included both 800 and 667 MHz.  What's up with the ram not working.  The remaining 1G board does work and even when I swap the new ram with the existing the new ram just hangs with a beep.

The existing ram is Ballistix that is no longer made, but the manual makes it clear that regular DDR2 667 should work.

i am afraid it is not quite so simple. For other than memory supplied by HP you will have to use memory modules that are guaranteed to be compatible by the memory manufacturer or vendor. The reason I state that is because the limited BIOS makes that so. As the owner of the dx2200 PC,  you are unable to change the primary and secondary memory timings to accomodate other than approved memory modules. If you have ever seen an enthusiast motherboard's BIOS you will know exactly wat I am referring to. Purchasing guaranteed compatible memory modules lets the memory manufacturer and/or vendorrs do that work and takes the $$$ risk out of your hands.

the following image is the part number for kingston memory modules that are guaranteed compatible  , but unfortunately no longer supprted. that is because your PC is a discontinued model. If you can find the part number listed it should work.
