External Blu-Ray Drive for p6710f Desktop

Hi,

 

Last year I purchased an HP Pavilion p6710f Desktop (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004G5ZTM4/ref=oh_details_o03_s00_i00). I didn't upgrade anything on the machine, so it's still exactly the same as when I bought it.

 

Now I'm looking at getting a blu-ray drive. I am thinking about getting an external one compared to an internal one because my next computer will probably be an ultrabook, so I'll need the drive for that as well.

 

My question is whether my desktop is powerful enough to watch and rip blu-ray movies with a normal external blu-ray drive. Any help would be appreciated.

The  DVD drive would run at Sata2.

The p6710f would need a USB3 card.

The ultrabook only has USB3.

 

The external enclosure needs USB3.
