Re: External Hard Drive

Western Digital if a popular brand. I would buy the My Book 3TB drive because the price doesn't seem that bad for 3 times the space. I did see that you really are not using much space on your hard drive so you could say the 1TB My Book Essentials is already more than you need.  I am posting a link to newegg but just to show the products. Shop and get the best price as always:

Re: External Hard Drive

Hello dyaris: I would go with either Hitachi or Seagate

it all depends on how much space you have on your main HD I would try to match it byte for byte

also note the features both the external drive & its backup application has as well whether it fits your needs or not

another good thing about the Seagates they have a feature called "Flex Drive" that means that they have USB 2.0, USB 3.0, Firewire connections to fit whatever ports that's on your computer they might even have eSATA as well

even though other people that do backups over the years disagree with my backup philosophy I believe in backing up everything rather than merely the stuff that you can't replace or the most important data because

if you have everything as a backup you won't be sorry due to any nagging doubts about one program or another.

good luck

hope this helps as well
