Hi,
I have a problem with a h8-1280t. This is a new system (a few months old) and recently it failed to boot. Symptoms were no video and the machine powered itself off within 30 seconds.
A HP tech asked me to do a few things and the machine was returned for fixing. Well it came back with a piece of paper telling me there was a memory problem and it had been replaced.
Well the same problem was still present. So I removed a single stick of memory (4 slots of 4GB each). The machine now works fine. I could remove any of the 4 sticks and it works fine. With one empty slot anywhere the machine boots. With them all filled it won't boot.
I noticed that there was a bios update for the machine so I flashed that and the problem went away. After a day or so it's returned after I changed a power option in windows (sleep after so many hours).
Once again it won't boot unless one stick of memory is removed.
Any ideas? I don't want to ship the machine again as it's a major pain to be without my computer.
Thanks.

Hi,
Does the power button flash and/or beep?
How far in the boot process do you get before the failure occurs?
Does the PC boot up in safe mode?
Does the PC boot up if you don't use sleep mode but instead just a total power off?
Did you make any hardware changes to this PC?
Did you change any of the bios settings?
Will the below CD boot up with all of the dimms installed?
Try this bootable memory diagnostic CD. Download memtest86 iso file and burn it to disk using Imgburn.
Your PC is still under warranty so contact HP Support is in your best interests.

Some of these questions you ask don't make sense. Given that I have said there is no video and the machine powers off within 30 seconds it isn't going to boot safe since it doesn't boot at all.
Sleep is not involved, This is booting from cold that won't work with all the memory in.
Power button doesn't flash, no beeping.
