GPU Temperature

I have an HP a6702f with an NVIDIA 9100 graphics card, but when I checked the temperature I was surprised to see it was 70°C. I just checked it and it was 75°C. Is this normal ? Is there anything I can do ?

Re: GPU Temperature

That does seem a little warmer then optimal temp. The Nvidia chipsets are known to put out more heat then others. My best advise if you are worried about core temps is get a chill mat/cooling pad. Try not to block teh vents and do not use the notebook as a 'laptop'. They are too powerful, unlike back in the day. Keep them on a solid surface and well vented

Re: GPU Temperature

HP PCs come with cheap case and cooling solution.  Since the OBV is part of the chipset, there's no quick and easy way to lower the temperature.

In general, most HP PCs with OBV are cheaply made with "value" components.  You could switch to a PCIE-16x GPU if the OBV goes poof.  Course it could also take down the other components.

Re: GPU Temperature

^^

That's what I'm worried about, since it's an integrated card that's running at 70-80 degrees at peak temp I'm worried it'll damage other components of the board.

I like the quality of the card, but is there a better one out there that's cheap ?
