Graphics card for Pavilion Slimline s3614uk

Hello, I'm looking to install a better graphics adapter than the one that is integrated to the mainboard. After some searching I know I will need a low profile card but this is my problem. During my searching I read that the power supply in the Pavilion Slim line is not upto the task, it's only 160W, I also hear that HP recommends that I install a card with a 25W max requirement. Is this accurate?

 

If this is so would it be possible to install a Nvidia GeForce 8400 GS, on the wiki page for that series it states that the GS model runs at 25W, any help or input would be welcome.

Allan, the problem with the Slimline models is the PSU.  As you stated, yours is 160W.  This simply isn't enough for any of the newer cards.  The 8400 GS requires a minimum of 300W.  It may fit into the case, but it won't run.  The Slimline models simply are not meant to be upgraded.

Hola amigo, pero que me dices de la información que viene en la pagina http://www.nvidia.es/object/geforce_8400_gs_faq_es.html donde en la antepenúltima pregunta dice....

P: ¿Qué requisitos de potencia tendrán las tarjetas gráficas GeForce 8400 GS?
R: Tienen un consumo máximo de 71 vatios.

 

O sea no necesitan los 300 watts que mencionas. Cual es lo correcto.
