Hi joakkiim,

Please post the HP product number for your PC. How to Find the HP Model Number and the HP Product Number or let HP automatically find your PC model number and HP network attached printers. This will allow others to review your issue, make suggestions and review your responses. This is usually the best way to get assistance.

Open up the RUN window and enter the following command: MSINFO32

If the BIOS level is version 8 then the NVIDIA GTX 970 should work.  However, you will need to do some measuring to ensure that it will fit and also that your PC meets the power supply wattage requirements as specified by the graphics card manufacturer.

I suspect that your motherboard in a "sandy bridge" model and the NVIDIA GTX 970 will not work.

Okay thanks. My pc has sandy bridge i5-2300, so it doesnt seem to work with my motherboard that has AMI 7.13 on it :(. Is there any way updating the bios version? And if there is no way doing it, wich hi-end gpu:s support that motherboard?

Hi joakkiim,

You might want to go to the Sapphire site and look for graphics card models containing the below functionality.   There is no guarantee that these graphics cards will work in your PC.  Look at the R9 290 and R9 280 models.

Hi Exsoxis,

The ASUS NVIDIA GTX 750TI will not work in your PC.  Try one of the below MSI NVIDIA GTX 750 models.

MSI NVIDIA GTX N750 TI and the MSI GTX N750 TF  If NewEgg doesn't have the exact models then try TigerDirect, Amazon or Google.

I had upgraded to an NVidia GeForce 520 through HP when I purchased my computer; the fan on the video card sounds like it is going out. I purchased a new card NVidia GeForce GT 720, which appears compatible, but when I install the card, the computer will not boot. I'm unable to get into BIOS with the new card installed, and when I use the onboard graphics when the new card is in the PCI Express slot, the computer doesn't recognize the GT 720 being installed. Is this card compatible? If not, what is compatible?

Model Number: P7-1070T

Product Number: 5117807

New card: EVGA 01G-P3-2722-KR GeForce GT 720 1GB 64-Bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x 8 Video Card

Hi natfield1,

The below OEM graphics cards are listed by HP to be compatible for your PC.

Contact HP Sales.  The Radeon 6570 would be the highest performing card on the above list and would perform better than the NVIDIA 720.

Thanks for the reply.

Are those the only cards compatible? Those were the cards listed when I first bought the computer, so I was looking for something newer if possible. Otherwise we're going to aftermarket to find them. Also don't want to upgrade my power supply, so all of the Radeon options listed are out. Any help is appreciated.

Hi,

Actually all of the above OEM graphics cards are rated to work with a 300 watt power supply.  If you are in doubt then contact HP Sales.
