Please post the HP product number for your PC. How to Find the HP Model Number and the HP Product Number or let HP automatically find your PC model number and HP network attached printers. This will allow others to review your issue, make suggestions and review your responses. This is usually the best way to get assistance.

We need more information than just a HP model series.  We need the HP product number, CPU speed and memory amount.

The HP h9-1215t is a configured-to-order model that has an optional NVIDIA GTX 680 which should work well for your needs.  Contact HP Sales or HP Partsurfer to obtain the HP OEM GTX 680.

The NVIDA Graphics cards listed below should also run your games quites well with resolutions below 1920 by 1080. 

MSI NVIDIA GTX N750 TI and the MSI GTX N750 TF  The MSI N750 TI model is on sale now at NewEgg for $134 after rebate.

According to  a gaming simulator, the 750 TI should be sufficient on medium to high settings.

I justbought a HP Envy 700-292D Desktop PC(Link below).

It has GTX760 1.5GB. I am planning to upgrade to GTX970.

Is there any issues to take note of. Can I just install and update drivers. And run.

Hi Mike,

Open up your PC and do some measuring.  Depending on the make and model of the NVIDIA GTX 970, you will need at least 9.5" in length and lateral room for a double wide graphics card. While your PC is open, look for an available 6 pin PCI-E power connector and the available 8 (6+2) PCI-E power connector.  The NVIDIA GTX 970 is a highly rated graphics card.

Hi I have an HP Pavilion 500-314 and would like to unpgrade the graphics card in it or actually add a better one.  The one that it is in there is intgrated on the motherboard.  My son uses the computer to play World of Warcraft and says he is getting low FPS.  I know I will probaly need to upgrade the PSU as well.  Any recommendations even if it is only a mid-range card.  That is the only game played on the unit.

Hi Mike,

I don't see any particular issues going from the default HP OEM 760 to a retail NVIDIA GTX 970. There is not a big performance jump going from a retail 760 to a retail 970 but the OEM NVIDIA GTX 760 might have a different performance level.  You may need to disable Secure Boot in the BIOS in order to get the new graphics cards to take after first installing it. After the first boot up then you should be able to go back into the BIOS and enable Secure Boot.

hi dave, bought my Gigabyte card, but left scratching head as gigabyte mini-itx card has eight pin power connecter. While HP envy 700-292 has only 6+2  pin connector & a 4 pin connector avaiable. The OEM 760 card has a six pin power connector. Can I connect 6 +2 pin connector you mentioned into the eight pin power connector?
