HP 1TB Personal Media Drive Buzzing Noise

A solution to the plug is to cut the one off failed fan and solder it to the new one.

problem is that the pins on the circuit board came off s now ther are 2 tiny holes on the usb board where the fan is to plug in-I am using it anyway without the fan running and so far its okay

I got my fan, which ended up costing about $25 with shipping (GRRRRRRRR !).
I just can't see charging more for shipping than what the fan costs especially when it got here and it weighed like an ounce. They won't be getting anymore of my business.

I haven't had time to take my drive apart and solder it to the old connector yet. Hopefully, it goes well.

junk!!!  i bought a brand new one off ebay, 11 months it quit working.  i called HP, told them I bought it off ebay, and they kept me on the phone for over and hour & then tell me it isn't under warranty since I bought it from

an online auction place.  like so much of the HP junk i've bought, as soon or just before warranty goes out, it quits working.    I won't ever buy another HP product..

I purchased the 1gig media drive a year ago. It started to make the terrible noise three months after purchase. per instructions of HP I mailed the item back for repair. When it was returned it still made the same terrible noise. It seems to be coming from the fan.  It seems that even hp cannot address the problem!

I fixed mine no problem over a year ago and I haven't any problems since.  The fix worked so well that I have two drives ( I had to fix the 2nd one too) and quite possibly looking to pick up a third since they are sooo cheap!
