I would like to know what newer generation motherboards I can purchase that will physically fit into this slim case and work with the existing USB ports etc. This unit is the slim form factor as shown here http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/1194
What I want is to upgrade this motherboard and cpu to the newest generation core 2 duo available.
Thank you in advance!
Kelly

Hi:
You can probably direct swap a motherboard from a dc7700 SFF. That can take C2D processors up to the E6700.
Can take up to 8 GB of RAM with an x64 bit OS.
P/S have the same output.
Quickspecs on the dc7700:

Would be a decent PC with a hassle-free upgrade.
Your only slow point would be the HDD if you keep the one in your dc7100. That is SATA I. The dc7700 can handle a SATA II HDD. Maybe you would want to go the solid state route?
Now, if you mean you have the USDT model, then that can only handle 3 GB of memory, and has the same 200W P/S as the dc7100 USDT.
The term SFF is the Small Form Factor size PC.

Also, will the ATX style power supplies mount properly in this tower?
Thanks.
