I just replaced a noisy system fan in my HP8000N computer, and now I am getting an "ERROR: system fan has failed" shortly after the BIOS loads. I can see that the system fan is running. Did I buy a bad replacement fan? It's a startech.com 1800 RPM ultra quiet 9.25 cm case fan. I get this message muultiple times during bootup--the system won't boot.
I already have the All CPU Meter and CoreTemp utilities installed, so I would be happy just to disable the system fan check and monitor the temperature through these utilities, but I can't find a way to do so.
In case it matters, I have version 5.09 of the BIOS installed, and I'm running Win7 64-bit (with no problems prior to replacing the fan).
