I am experiencing an infrequent strange behavior on cold startup of my HP P6-2026. On a normal startup all the fans all start at high speed and quickly (2-3 seconds) return to a normal low speed rate. They then appropriately run at speeds appropriate to cool the system.
On some occasions during cold start, the fans will all start up and stay high speed and stay this way. They are not at a rate appropriate for cooling. If i shut down the computer and start again the fans will behave normally.
Is there a bios or other correction that prevents this strange startup behavior of the fan speeds. Is there a condition I am doing that contributes to this behavior.
When the computer is not in use and after shutting down, I normally turn off my surge protector so the computer has no power. When starting the computer I turn this surge protector on and proceed to turn on the computer.
This behavior has occurred infrequently since the system was new so I do not believe it is age related.
Has anyone else had similar problems.
Philip
