HP Paviilion 6641F Power Button LED does not light

The HP P6641F power Button LED (which glows green when the PC is running and amber when the PC is in sleep mode) aeems to have quit, although the PC itself powers on and off and sleeps as usual and runs .normally.

After just over a year of daily service the green glow disappeared abut a month ago, but the amber remained.  Then after two days the green and amber LED lighting returned to normal and was fine for about 2 weeks. Now for about three weeks the power button LED is not operating at all.

Does the LED need to be replaced and is it easy for a repair tech to do?  I have extended service from the retailer but was hoping to avoid a trip to the shop if there were other remedies I could apply.

Sounds like you have loose connections on J18. See this post and reply I made:

That looked promising ... I reseated the J18 connector, sprayed the connector with contact spray etc   - unfortunately still no LED display.  So, maybe the LED has died . . .

BTW - thanks for the quick reply - much appreciated.
