HP Pavilion S3240uk RAM Upgrade.

Hi.

I'm currently running a Pavilion S3240uk.  I am wanting to upgrade my current Vista, 32 bit OS, to Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. My syytem currently has 2GB of RAM, and I am wondering how much RAM I could upgrade to if I upgrade the OS to 64 bit, as I would like to install 8GB.

Thanks.

Re: HP Pavilion S3240uk RAM Upgrade.

DalePow,

It will only support 2GB RAM modules, so with 2 slots, your max is 4GB total, regardless of 32 or 64 bit OS.

Re: HP Pavilion S3240uk RAM Upgrade.

Thank you.

That is about what I thought, but the bit I find confusing is this,

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=bph03886&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&product=3577866

and the section towards the bottom that page that states a 64 bit OS would allow  8GB, at least.

Re: HP Pavilion S3240uk RAM Upgrade.

If it said "recommended", then that would change my answer. But, it does not.

Re: HP Pavilion S3240uk RAM Upgrade.

Thank you.

I wouldn't say problem solved, but it's understood, and that's good enough for me.  Looks like a new system for me, if I want to get the RAM I need, when the total costs of upgrading this one are considered, which is a bit of a pain considering this desktop is only  just over 2 years old.  I think I will hang back for a year or two.
