I have a Pavilion Slimline s7600n that randomly shuts down. I recently replaced the power supply thinking it was the culprit, but after that it still shuts off. I've also installed a program to check the temperature, and the warmest I've gotten so far was 52 degrees - so I don't think heat was the issue. I've already cleaned inside and got rid of some dusts, and also made sure the fan was working.
I have read in some sites having the same issue with this model, but no solution was found or posted.
Can someone point me in the right direction on where else too look?
Thanks in advance!

Do you get any blue screens or error messages?
Have you checked the cmos battery?
Have you removed and reinstalled the memory?
Have you installed XP SP3?

No error messages or blue screens. It just shuts down like somebody pulled the power plug.
I also installed a new cmos battery.
XP sp3 was installed.
I upgraded the memory to 2gb about a year ago, but I took it out (1gb) to see if it was the memory stick but it still shuts down.
Also, it's running on a new 320gb HD with XP Media Center. Previous HD crashed and cannot be saved anymore. But even with the old HD, it still shuts down, but only when I play music on winamp radio, otherwise it's fine. Now with the new HD installed, it normally shuts down within an hour, even when idle.
I tried disabling the network connection, and it still powered off after a while.
Any ideas?
Add'l info:
AMD Athlon 64 x2 Dual Core Processor 3800 2.00GHZ
I haven't installed anything aside from the original programs except AVG.

Try another power outlet. Also try another power cord.

Thanks for the link!
Been running it for about 4.5 hours now, no errors found so far.
It hasn't shutdown either since I started running it.

If this does not find any errors I would suggest performing an HP Recovery. Making sure to perform a Destructive Recovery. Make sure to save all files and photos.

I'm using a week old HD (Western Digital 320gb). I've installed the same OS (XP w/ media center), however, it didn't come from HP's recovery disc. I used an authentic windows disc from my friend since the recovery disc I ordered from HP wouldn't work. It kept saying the "recovery disc is for a different system". I called HP to send me another one, and they sent me the same one. I kept explaining to them that the disc they sent me has a different build ID compared to my tower's build ID, but still they sent me the wrong one. I don't feel like calling them anymore just to be patched to India and explain the issue again for an hour.
So what I did is install the original OS, then downloaded the other drivers from HP's website. I've also updated windows.
I can reformat and reinstall windows on the HD again if I need to, since I don't have any important files saved on it yet.
I'm still running memtest on my PC - it's been about 6.5 hrs now and still no errors found.
