I have a HP Pavilion a6130N with AMDAthlon 64 x 2 dual core processor 5000+ and 3072 mb PC2-5300 DDR2 SDRAM memory - I have been having many BSOD with different reasons - ran all diagnostics checks and they were ok - this has been going on for a few months - now today 7/17/11 finally was able to get a possible reason. I started it in safe mode with internet connection - ran the windows memory diagnostic tool and it said "Hardware problems were detected. To identify & repair these problems, you will need to contact the computer manufacturer." I have checked on HP site but cannot find out what to do. Is it RAM chips or mother board? How do I find out and if the chip is bad how do I know which one? This getting very frustrating. The computer is 4 years old and was great, until now ![]()
Help Please !!!
Thank you

Hi,
Try the below suggestion if you think that the issue is a memory problem.
Try this bootable memory diagnostic CD. Download memtest86 iso file and burn it to disk using Imgburn.
Do you get errors?
You should also boot into the bios (F10) and run the boot time diagnostics. Do you get errors?
The next time your get a BSOD, please post the entire error message.
Did you make any hardware changes to your PC?

Thank you in advance for your reply - this is going to be a lenghty post.
Today 7/18 - I started the computer and it took a while but it went to BSOD - something about a driver and then the screen was gone. I have since unchecked the box so that I can now write down what the BSOD says. I tried to start is safe mode with internet. Got the HP screen then nothing - no hard drive light. Turned it off, waited aminute and hit ESC to start in Boot Screen -selected hard dirve (Hitachi) ran test & repair - Start up Reair was unable to repair - Problem details are as follows:

After Repair & Diagnosis - everything came up fine. The system will run fine for hours. I know there have been automatic windows updates overnight. I also had an error about Kaspersky virus software update which I didn't even know about Kaspersky - I have a feeling it was with a Yahoo toolbar which I have since disabled. I also empptied the recylce been and not the we site is not listed in a search - I never found the program. Maybe Norton removed it??
One time the Repair & Diagnosis said it was a memory problem but when running PC Doctor, my memory is fine.
I am hoping this is a simple fix. But the issues that I am having on startup are new.
Other problems on the BSOD are
Page Fault_in_Non Paged_Area
PFN_LIST_CORRUPT
FLTMGR_FILE_SYSTEM
I have check the event log and ifnd that there a several errors with the same reason They are listed below. I have saved them in a word docuement - I wish there was a way to attach.

Hi,
Did you get a chance to run memtest ?
Try this procedure:
Unplug the PC and open it up. Clean out all the dust. Carefully remove and replace all the cables going to the motherboard one at a time. Do the same for the memory dimms and the video and sound cards if you have any. You might want to buy a can of compressed air to blow the dust out of the CPU heat sink. Plug your PC back in and give it a go.
Try this from the RUN window:
cmd
sfc /scannow --------> this will scan your critical system files and attempt repairs
