My HP Pavilion a6780a, running Windows Vista SP2, makes these abnormal internal noises, which don't affect the computer's performance, but are still annoying.
The question is - what's the noise (I think it's the fan or the hard drive, but it could be something else altogether) and how do I deal with it?
The links are to videos of the computer starting up (on the second attempt), and the noises typically made whilst it is running.

You really need to open the case and determine the source. Just stay grounded to prevent static discharge.
To say THANK YOU, press the white star on the left, to render a KUDO.
Please click Accept as Solution, just to the right of my reply if your problem is solved.
PS--You can render both Solution and KUDO
