PC model: HP ProDesk 600 G1 mini

OS version: Windows 7 SP1 x64

SSD: Crucial M550 - 256 GB - internal - M.2 - SATA-600

After installing the SSD in to M.2 slot, the system does not see any device installed.

Any ideas?

The first thing I would do is enter the BIOS and go to the advanced tab. Enable the POST messages.

Is the SSD recognized as present by the BIOS?

SSD drives are an option with these. I suggest using the Crucial community forum.  Have you tried connecting the SSD to another PC to see if it is recognized? According to the Crucial forum experts, if it is recognized in another system you should update the firmware and try it in the desktop again.

Did you clone the disk before installing it?

Unfortunately I do not have another computer with a slot M.2, that would check my M.2 SSD. Should the devices installed in the expansion slots M.2 displayed in the BIOS? At the your picture shown an ordinary HDD and I'm talking about disk installed in slot M.2. Maybe there are some limitations of capacity (for example, no more than 128 GB)?

HP Recommended

OK. It could be a capacity limitation. The illustrated parts map shows only a 128 GB Solid State Drive (SSD), M.2 757990-001 unit as an option.  YOu may be better served by posting this in the HP Business Enterprise forum.

Is there also a SATA disk installed in addition to the M.2 slot SSD?

With Post messages enabled in the BIOS, you may be able to get more information as it runs through the power on self test. You might also try disabling secure boot to see if that has a positive effect on the M.2 SSD being recognized by the BIOS.

Hi all

I have the same problem with the HP EliteDesk 800 G1 Mini Desktop.

I tried three different M.2 SSD. Two Toshiba (THNSNJ512GDNU) 512GB and one Intel (SSDSCKGf180A4L) 180GB.  All are not detected by BIOS.

Any ideas to solve this problem?

Thanks.

Yves

I think it's problem at SSD size limit, max 128 Gb allowed
