Can I replace the S5-1110 GH80N DVD with the HP 1270I 24X SATA Multiformat DVD Writer? My current drive has a blank DVD stuck in it and I would like to have the Litescribe technology of the 1270I.
If so, is it the same drive as the less expensive Lite-On LightScribe 24X SATA DVD+/-RW Dual Layer Drive IHAS424-98 ?

To remove the stuck DVD insert a paper-clip into the access hole on the drive.

The HP 1270I is a better unit. (I have it now, see below).

Lite-On:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N8
A word on Lite-Scribe. It is an intense burning activity, znd the ejected platter is very hot. Had to replace a Lite-On that burned out. I have now stopped using Lite-Scribe.

Thanks for the heads up. The DVD somehow fell through the tray and I couldn't get the tray back in the drive. Nor was the DVD visible. I finally pulled the drive and shook it until the DVD was partially visible. I was able pull it out with forceps.
I guess I'll just put the drive back and see if it still works. In the future, I won't stand this computer up vertically. It's too easy for the medium to fall out.
