HP h8-1280t Desk top won't read the sd, compact flash card, ect.

It only shows the drive when I put a card in it.   Can anyone help me with this problem?

Hi,

What happens when you double click on the drive?

Try the media card in another PC to make sure that it works.

Try the suggestions listed in this posted article.  Be sure that the card's specifications matches up with the reader's specifications.

Go into the Control Panel ---> AutoPlay and check the box to use AutoPlay for all Devices and Media.

I added a third hard drive when this happened.   When I go into set up the drives state Non-Raid disk.

All checks as you requested but still doing the same thing.

Hi,

Third hard drive?  Do you mean a third internal sata motherboard attached hard drive? If yes,   Did you initialize, format and assign a single drive letter to the hard drive?

Leave the SD card out for now if you haven't done the above action on the new hard drive.

I have three internal hard drives working:

OS (C  Solid state drive

Hp_Recovery (D

DATADRIVE1 (E   Sata

3rd Hard Drive (K  Sata

They all show up in Device Manager along with the four card readers Generic - SD/MMC USB Device.

Hi,

What you are seeing is a normal response for a removable media device without a card beinginserted in the reader.  The devices listed under Device Manager are normal.

You probablay have a few removable devices so be sure to open the one indicating that media is present.  You should see an indication of free space and total capacity for reader that has the card inserted.  Do you see that indication?

Once I restored the card to the default and formatted it everything is ok.  Now when I install either the cf or sd a window pops up showing the folder

It shows the four cards under computer and only the one loaded in explore.
