Ladies and Gentlemen,
I bought a refurbished HP m9350f back in 2009 which came with this Seagate Hard Drive:
Family: BARRACUDA 7200.11 FAMILY
Model Number: ST3750630AS
Part Number: 9BX146-620
Firmware Revision: HP21
Transport: Serial
Size: 750 GB
As you can see it is running a HP branded Firmware and I did have several issues with back in the days.
Long story short, I ended up buying a new Hard Drive for it in order to be able to use it with issues.
Today it is running Windows 7 64-bit with this Seagate Hard Drive flawlessly.
Now I am trying to give a another try to this Seagate/HP HDD as "spare" Drive in Dell Computer running Linux.
SeaTools did not detected any issues with it (Short, Long nor Acoustic Tests) but it says there is an update available for it in the Seagate Web Site.
However, when I got to Seagate Web site and use their "Download Finder" Web Utility, entering my this HDD specs, models and Serial, it does not point me to any specific Firmware, but we there is Seagate SD1A for it, right?
Well, there is also HP26 available for it.
My question for the HP Knights would be: what do you recommend to resolve the issues from this drive (yes, I have seen/read a lot about it, in the Web, in HP, etc)?
Should apply a Firmware update? Which one: HP or Seagate?
Please advise.
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
That hard drive is OEM for HP so use the HP update.

OK, I guess I have to take your advice.
Now, the HP HDD Firmware update is "theoretically only supported for" Windows Vista. as that was the original OS which came from HP.
I would think it is OK to apply this update to the HDD even I am using it with another OS (Windows 7, Linux, etc) and even if the HDD is being used in same HP Computer, correct?
Of course I was able to extract the .ISO out of the HP Update File which is .EXE that burns this .ISO to CD.
With that said, as long as I burn this .ISO, I can apply this HP Firmware regardless where the HDD is.
Is that right?
Thanks,

Hi,
Is this the update in question? If yes, then follow the instructions and burn it to a CD on a PC that support the HP update.
