OMG ! I can't believe this my HP desktop, barely over 1 year old, I think my warranty just expired , started making grinding noises and sounds like an old Shevy. What to heck is going on, this is a new computer. I Think the HD is dying. I was just sitting here checking e-mails and all of a sudden I hear these clunking noises coming from the computer. It sounds like there is something lose in there. What do I do now ? I have always stayed with HP brand because of the name and reliability but this is too soon for my computer to die on me. What are my options? Can I still call support. or e-mail them ? Please let me know. I'm about to lose all my data here. Model #: m8226x Product #: GN688AA-ABA Software Build #: 74NAv3PrA1 Service ID #: 123-007 PCBRAND: Pavilion

You can remove the side cover and check more closely to find the source of the noise. If it is the hard drive, save the data to a seperate media quickly before it fails, then replace the drive and use your restore DVD's that you created when the computer was new. If it is a fan, then you can replace the fan or have someone do it for you. Fans are cheap.

When you replace the hard disk be sure and replace it with one that is the same size in gigabytes. Otherwise you might encounter a problem during the restore. Do yourself a favor and don't replace the drive with a Seagate brand.

You can open the case up and look. The HP PCs are very easy to open.
