I your notebook comes with 4 GB and is capable of being upgraded with another 4 GB chip to 8 GB total.
If you live in the USA, this is the notebook memory I use:
You can also get Kingston memory for a couple of dollars more.

I checked the manual for my pavillion G6 series. It lists different memory patterns compatible in the computer (the max being 8 gigabytes) but the highest pattern it states is 6 gigabytes (4096 MBx1 + 2048 MBX1), nowhere does it mention a pattern for 8 GB's. Is it possible to use the following pattern, 4096 MB x 2 (two 4Gb memory sticks)??

I'm thinking that the manual is incorrect. If it can run 4 GB in one slot, then it should be able to run 4 GB in both slots.
Run the free crucial memory advisor and see what it reports you can do.
