I have an hp 6645 desktop which has never been a very reliable machine. It now generates noise,( from the power supply I think), and the machine is decidely slower than normal and fails if I load more than one desktop publishing program. I have no line based internet connection here in rural Spain and have to use a dongle which I am told makes no difference to the operation of the machine..
I find HP less than helpful, in fact they are unhelpful, but if anyone can help I would be grateful. The local repairer looked at it and said " hp? no".
The machine is supposed to be a 8200 speed machine whatever that is.
Thank you

What are the missing numbers on your 6645? there should be two more letters at the end. Look at the sticker on the PC. Post everything except the serial number.
8200 is probably an Intel Core2 Quad E8200 processor. That core speed would be 2.33 Ghz.
Connecting your PC to a modem or router with a CAT5 cable does make a difference in internet connection speed. It is faster.
If the local repairer is any good then it shouldn't matter to him what the brand is. Business is business.
How much RAM is installed and what is your operating system?
Is this your PC? An HP Pavilion 6645es
Best regards,
erico
