How do I add second hard disk drive to a Pavilion a6838f?cc=us

I have a Pavilion a6838f with a 500gb SATA hdd.  I also have a a6838f where the motherboard was fried by a nearby lightning strike.  Can anyone tell me how to transplant the hdd from the dead machine into the other as a second hdd.  I only find one wire with two SATA power connectors both of which are in use (CD drive and HDD).  Thanks.

Here are the specs for your HP Pavilion a6838f Desktop Computer. You need to use a IDE-to-SATA power cable such as one of THESE.

Re: How do I add second hard disk drive to a Pavilion a6838f?cc=us

richiej,

That PSU (5188-2625) shown here http://www.power-on.com/ea350u.html  is supposed to have 4 Sata power leads, 2 on each cable leg. See PDF file, PF-PI  http://www.power-on.com/images/mechanical/ea350u.pdf

If you poke around, and trace the leads, you might find those other Sata power plugs.

BTW, Frank meant molex to Sata.
