I received my new small form factor desktop - HP Compaq Elite 8300 SFF.

It comes equiped with Intel Core i7 - 3770 Quad core CPU @ 3.40GHz.

According to Intel's web site, this CPU has full VT (virtualization) support, however, when i install VMware products (ESXi), it tells me that VT is not enabled and that i need to enable it in BIOS.

I tried to get into BIOS using 'ESC' but i do not see an option on how to enable VT support. I installed the latest available BIOS too, it did not help to unlock this option.

What do i need to enable VT support on my computer??

Thanks!

DM

Hi, DM:

On my 8200 Elite, the enable VT option is in the security menu.

I would think it would be the same on the 8300 Elite.

I have a problem to install VMware ESX 5 on my Elite 8300, the SATA hard disk is not visible for me. I intsall ESX using a USB flash disk.
Can you help please?

Try copying the files to the desktop and attempting the install again.

Make sure you have the virtualization turned on in the bios.

If that doesnt work, I would contact VMWare for further troubleshooting.
