Hp Pavillion M9050pt-a Graphic Card upgrade

Hello, i have a Hp Pavillion m9050pt-a (http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=c01257524&lang=en&cc=us&taskI...

I would like to know if when upgrading the motherboard bios to the 5.13version i am able to upgrade my graphic card to any of the following :

Asus EAH6850 DirectCU (http://www.asus.com/Graphics_Cards/AMD_Series/EAH6850_DC2DIS1GD5/)

Asus EAH6870 DirectCU (http://www.asus.com/Graphics_Cards/AMD_Series/EAH6870_DC2DI2S1GD5/)

Asus ENGTX560 DirectCU II top (http://www.asus.com/Graphics_Cards/NVIDIA_Series/ENGTX560_Ti_DCII_TOP2DI1GD5/)

I am aware that i need a new spu, and the space limitation of the case.

Will i have any compatibility problems with any of those graphic cards?

Thank you very much in advance.

Re: Hp Pavillion M9050pt-a Graphic Card upgrade

Spoz, welcome to the forum.

The links that you provided are not working.  However, I was able to get the model numbers from them.

The nVidia card is the only one that will fit into the space provided in my opinion. It is 9" in length.  The others are 10.2" and 11.0" respectively. This is too long for a mid-size case.

I recommend a power supply unit (PSU) with at least 500W.  This will give you extra wattage for future upgrades.

Re: Hp Pavillion M9050pt-a Graphic Card upgrade

Hello,

Like i said i'm my original post, i am aware that i need a new spu, and the space i have.

I am only worried with the compatibility of the graphic cards with this board, because in a computer store they said that hp boards don't always accept every graphic card's .

With the bios update i will not have this issue right?

Many thanks

Re: Hp Pavillion M9050pt-a Graphic Card upgrade

Spoz, I gotcha. :-)

I have never seen any reports of video cards not working in a HP board other than space.  A BIOS update is good, however.  Just be extremely careful during the process.  A failed BIOS flash makes a very expensive door stop or boat anchor.  It can not be reversed.
