Hi, I have a Z800 FM016UT#ABA. It has 6x2 gb ram installed.
I have 6x8 gb sticks I would like to install. They are HP sticks:
HP 8GB 2Rx4 PC3-10600R-9 Kit. Model # 593913-B21.
The ram in the machine now is DDR3 SDRAM - ECC - 1333 MHZ.
Will my new sticks work?
Will they play nice with the old ones?
I did try installing them with my original ram and got 5 beeps when I started the machine so I shut it down.
Thanks,

Hi,
Review the directions for installing dimms starting on page 157 of this manual. Read carefully through the directions, particularly if you have dual processors.
If using dual processors try the following:
I would first try the new dimms in slots 1,2,3,4,5,6 and see if you can boot up without errors. If that works, then go back populate slots 7,8,9,10,11 12.

I installed the new dimms in 1-6 and it booted error free. I then installed the original dimms in 7-12 and they were rejected immediatley. I guess I'll just have to live with 48gb of ram ![]()
Thanks for your help, Dave

Hi Keith,
Thanks for getting back to us about your success.![]()
Not all dimms will work with other dimms. It's a fairly common issue when upgrading memory. I suspect that if you were to buy another 6 dimms just like the new dimms then that would most likely work. Then you would have 96 GB.
You might want to read this Windows document on memory limitations.

Thanks Dave, with that much ram head room I can seriously think about finally building a car that goes into the future. Part car - part time machine
