Lightscribe Drive

I have been burning CDs on my drive, then burning lightscribe labels.  Suddenly today, the lightscribe burner program has refused to acknowledge that I have a lightscribe device in my computer.  I can still burn CDs, play DVDs, etc.  How to fix this problem?

Re: Lightscribe Drive

Hi,

Download Imgburn and see if it recognizes your optical drive as lightscribe capable.  See the below image.

Re: Lightscribe Drive

Hi,

What was the result?  Did Imgburn indicate if the drive has Lightscribe capablities?

Re: Lightscribe Drive

The Imgburn program won't even show me the screen you illustrated.  All it does is try to clean files and accelerate my computer.  It doesn't even do that very well.  It reveals no information.

Re: Lightscribe Drive

Hi,

You are not running the right program.  Be careful when you select/deselect when installing Imgburn.

Re: Lightscribe Drive

Okay.  I found the page to which you were referring.  The Lightscribe box IS checked and recognized by the program.  So, how do I fix the problem from here?

Re: Lightscribe Drive

[ Edited ]

Hi,

Be sure to use Lightscribe optical disks.  The LS media does have to be Lightscribe surface face up before the burn will work.

Since Imgburn recognizes that the optical drive is lightscribe capable then your application that burns lightscribe should be reinstalled. Try the reinstalling the underlying lightscribe system first before reinstalling your burning application.  The HP update is located here.

The Lightscribe web site is no longer active.

Since you have Imgburn installed, you can use it to search for a firmware update for your optical drive.

Re: Lightscribe Drive

The HP Lightscribe update fixed the problem.  Thank you very much.
