I am looking to upgrade the processor on my HP Pavillion a6660z desktop PC. I am running Windows Vista (32-bit OS) and my current processor is the AMD Phenom 8250 Triple Core Processor, 1.9GhZ. I need to upgrade the processor to over 2.0 in order to run some new software. Is the processor replaceable on this HP model, and if so, what processor should I invest in?

Here are the specs for your HP a6660z CTO computer. Note that the choice of original CPU's were all "e" model CPU's. That is they are energy efficient version and are rated at 45 watts and/or 65 watts. From the M2N68-LA (Narra3) motherboard specs ;
Processor upgrade information
Socket type: AM2+
Motherboard supports the following processor upgrades:
Phenom with Quad Core (Agena) technology (AM2+) up to 9600 (up to 95 watt)
Athlon 64 X2 with Dual Core technology X2 up to 5600+ (up to 89 watt)
Athlon 64 less than 4000+
Sempron less than 3800+
Based on this infomation, these Phenom X4 CPUs and/or this Athlon X2 should do the trick, however it is possible that other Athlon X2 and/or Phenom X4 CPUs will work.
