Low disk space warning on partitioned drive.

I'm getting an almost constant "Low disk space" warning for D drive created by HP for the HP_RECOVERY files.

It's on an older HP Pavilion a550y, running MS Windows XP.

Can I stop this?

The HP recovery partition should not be getting more full than when created. If you are getting "Low disk space" warnings,  that means something is writing to the partition which should not be doing so. The best bet would be to investigate what is writing to your D drive and stop it then remove all data outside of what was originally created by HP.

Thanks, Frank, I'll give it a shot and let you know.  I didn't notice anything with dates more recent than the original create date of the recovery info, but I'll check very carefully in the next day or so.  I'll let you know how it goes.

Hi again, Frank.  I finally had time to check that D drive again.  You were exactly right.  There was a Norton backup folder there for some unknown reason.  I moved that folder and expect that my problem will go away.  Thank you so much for your expert help.  Regards, RBB-MASS.

I'm getting a low disk space notice also on D recovery drive.My fan revs up for 30 secs or more then goes quiet.Its very annoying

The use bar on the recovery disk is red except for a little section

What can  I do to clear out the 'D" since it says its for emergency recovery?

I have HP pavillion a6037c with Window Vista Home premium

I am using Windows 7 on Pavilion a6045x.  I get "Low Disk Space" for the Recovery disk D: that HP appears to have created.  Your suggestion to stop another program writing to this drive appears to be a good solution.  However, using Windows Explorer, disk D: files are not visible. I look for a way to "unhide" these files to ascertain the source of the illicit file writing to no avail. Any comments or suggestions?

Go to My Computer

click on TOOLS

then FOLDER OPTIONS.

Click on VIEW

look for  Hidden files and folders

   click on the radio buuton that says,   Show hiddenfiles, folders, and drives

Uncheck      Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)

you will now see the "missing" files and folders

it took care of part of the problem

But my hard drive fan keeps running wide open .

It does so in about 60 sec intervals,then stops for 45-60 secs.

I get a high memory usage message

The CPU is in a well ventilated area and the openings are clean

Any takers?

my c drive is running out of space and i saw people are recommending easus partition manager, decided to give it a shot.

i downloaded, and installed. i have to say this software offers a nice interface, and easy to use. i just dragged the c drive backward, and the free space of d drive is given to c drive. 

i google an article with some screenshots
