Memory Upgrade

I recently purchased the HP Pavilion a6614f last Black Friday from Best Buy. I wanted to upgrade my memory from 6Gb to anything higher. Any suggestions?

Should i just upgrade it to 8Gb? or should i go with 16Gb. Since I'm running the 64-bit Vista, should I go 16? or am I safe with just 8?

I opened the case and saw just Hynix memory modules. Are they good? Any brands and models you can suggest me using? is OCZ good? What works perfectly with the mobo?

Re: Memory Upgrade

I seriously doubt that you will ever use the already installed 6GB of RAM.  There is no reason in the world to upgrade your RAM.

Re: Memory Upgrade

I don't believe the motherboard supports 16GB of ram.  8GB appears to be the max, according to HP website.

OCZ, along with Crucial and Corsair, are some top name producers of ram.

Re: Memory Upgrade

I have to agree with the above replies! Let it run for a while, and check the peak memory use in the <task manager>, this way you'll see what the system really wants/needs!  BTW - Crucial.com is the place to go, for good fast ram as well as a solid guarantee.

Re: Memory Upgrade

like the others said, you may not need to upgrade RAM....but if you do, make sure the RAM you buy is the exact same specs as your current RAM, meaning same type, speed, and voltage requirements.
