I did a complete new install of windows 7 RC on a newly formatted drive worked fine. After installing the first test update for windows 7 the computer would not login it would start to the login screen and when I tried to login would have an error for the following list of files; Werfault.exe, taskhost.exe, sdclt.exe, nvvsvc.exe, userinet.exe, dwm.exe 0x771a3892 referenced memory at 0x00000000 the memory could not be read. For each file the message was exactly the same. After a system restore everything was fine so a few days later I tried to install the update again and the same tine happened. Now the computer has done this with another update and I needed to restore back in safe mode to be able to access the computer. I have done a memory test and said it was good. The memory in the computer before I upgraded was 2x1024 2x512 timings at 333 5-5-5-15 now I upgraded to 2x ocz2g8004gk 8gb timings at 400 6-6-6-18. Is this a memory problem or a windows 7 RC build 7100 problem or something else? Sometimes I have this problem after a reboot now. Computer HP Pavilion elite M9177c

I had this same problem with windows 7 RC build 7100 with the old memory that windows would start but would not log on that was why I upgraded the memory. The error was, filename.exe the instruction at 0x771a3892 referenced memory at 0x00000000 the memory could not be read. For a list of files and the first set of numbers would be the same for all files and only changed with a reboot the second set of numbers always only 0’s two other forums have told me this is probably the bios. Just like with memtest86+ the errors where always at an address of all 0’s 0.0 MB

Download Memtest.exe to test RAM in windows. W7 is BETA. You may need BIOS update. Note that HP is piss-poor with new BIOS. Therefore, you may have to live with the current condition.
Do not buy an HP if you intent to do major upgrades to the PC.

Yes the computer supports 8 MB it came with three 2x1024 2x512 I am getting the same errors with just 4 MB as I get with 8Mb. What does the address 0x0000000000 mean it is always that address on the memtest and when the OS will not load? Will try the memtest.exe you have suggested.
