My Slimline s5-1020 has no HDMI. I just bought a HDTV with HDMI. Can I add a low-profile video card?

I found one without fans, so apparently it wouldn't overheat. Also, would I want a video card that's 32- or 64-bit? Thank you.

If your pc has a dvi port you can just buy a dvi to hdmi adaptor.  Also if your tv has a vga port you may use it to connect your pc.  I would check in to these options before adding any 3rd party hardware to your board.

I've already added a serial port (for old printers), a fax modem, and a firewire card. The Slimline s5-1020 has no DVI port. I use a VGA heavy-duty Ferrite cable presently, but I want to know why I can't install a fan-less video card that would support HDMI.

for reference here's the motherboard specs for you product;

The photo of the motherboard shows the available slots that you can use.  But from your post it sounds like you have already filled some of these slots already with these other cards that you added. If you have an available slot that fits  your new graphics card then it should work.

Adding one more thing..the graphics card should be one that fits the PCI express 16 slot which would be the large black slot that you see in the motherboard photo.

DoinTFN, thank you very much! Now if you can just tell me if it should be 32- or 64- bit, and if a fan-less card will affect (generally) the HDMI quality. Thank you again, and then I'll vote this the answer.

Go with the 64 bit card, you have 64 bit windows and the hardware on your PC is going to work best with the 64 bit card.

Also the presence or absence of a  fan on the card shouldn't be a factor on the HDMI.  Unless you are an avid PC gamer or need to do a lot of graphic intensive type stuff you should be ok with the fan-less card.  Do keep in mind that you will want to have adequate ventilation around the PC to ensure that the chassis fan can circulate cooler outside air through the inside of the chassis.
