Need Information on Keyboard Keys/Lights...Where to Find It

I have a new HP Pavilion p7-1170t and need to find the information about what certain keys and/or lights mean on it.  I've looked in the manuals section and that doesn't really tell me anything.  Is there anything imbedded in the computer that describes what I need to know?  For instance there are three lights above the number keypad and I know one is for caps but the one at the far right has an arrow pointing down and have no idea what that is for or means.  Also is there an imbedded section about the tower part of the computer?  I had this information on my older computer (Dell) but it was easy to locate on the computer.  Thanks for any help you can give me!

Hi,

This is a desktop and normally a desktop can use many different keyboards wired and wireless. You have to look at the model of the keyboard rather than the machine itself.

PR 1101U is the model number.  Is there somewhere on the HP computer that tells what the lights/keys mean? Or should I look for it online in the HP website somewhere?  Thanks.

If you click on your desktop and hit the F1 key it will bring up Windows Help and Support. Just type in "keyboard" and it should list a number of links to help you get more familiar with your keyboard.

Also, about the indicator lights (the three lights above the number keypad): one is caps lock (as you know), one is number lock, and the third (the one with the arrow pointing down) indicates a rarely-used function called scroll lock.

Thank you so much!  That 's just what I needed to know.  Some of the "buttons" are the same but there were a few I was stumped about and this has provided the answers.  I'm middle-aged (don't say senior unless I get a discount!) so I didn't grow up with computers and am constantly trying to learn the most I can about them.  Susan

You're so welcome, Susan! Glad I could help. Some of those keys can be pretty mysterious. I just recently learned about "scroll lock" myself.

It's an indicator light for Scroll Lock.

Knowing helped me find the Scroll lock key to turn it off
