New CPU fan - CPU-FAN has failed

Hello,

My new CPU-fan doesn't work, because system reports while starting that "CPU-FAN has failed, system will shut down"

I'm wondering if there would be BIOS-version that could show hardware monitor, that I could disable cpu-fan warning.

Re: New CPU fan - CPU-FAN has failed

Does the new fan meet the minimum requirements of the old fan? Same pinout and RPM?

Installing a low RPM fan will cause that message. The 3rd wire is the RPM tachometer lead.

Re: New CPU fan - CPU-FAN has failed

Thank you. Yes the new fan has lower rpm fan than old one, its zalmans quite fan.

Can I just cut off that 3rd wire?

Or is there bios I could disable that fan check?

Re: New CPU fan - CPU-FAN has failed

Quiet fans do not rotate (RPM) fast enough. Been there, and it failed. No, you can not defeat the tachometer pin.

You need to purchase the correct fan, rated for the RPM range.
