Hello, I have a HP Pavilion P6142P-B with Windows 7 64 bit o.s. 8gb ram 640gb hdd and lastly a AMD ATI Radeon 5450 pci-e x16 graphics card that is causing some trouble. The graphics card driver randomly crashes. It also goes into a continuous beeping when resuming from sleep sometimes(75% of the time). Also My Itunes video/audio are out of sync, they play together for 20-30 seconds then they seem to(for lack of a better word) drift apart and if you rewind/ff the re-sync for another 20-30 seconds. Everything else seems fine after I put in a new power supply(from HP, thank you for recommending it solved most of my troubles I was having). Unsure if the two incidents are related but they don't seem to be. Thanks for your time!

Not sure if this is an HP graphics card or an add-on - but you might try to see if there is a more current driver available from ATI/AMD and test with that (remember you can always use restore points to back out of it if need be).
As to way out of sync for audio/video - you might want to check to see if your CPU is overloaded, perhaps there is some process running that is consuming most of the CPU - and causing other stuff to lag - I've seen that happen before with viruses, or virus checkers, etc.
No concrete answers - but something to check into.

I think the 2 incidents are related.
The P6142P-B comes with Geforce 9100 graphics card and a 300W PSU.
I believe you upgrade your graphic card to an Radeon 5450 which require a min 400W PSU.
The crashes and video/sound out of sync could be due to the 5450 not getting enough power. This have been solved when you put in a new PSU.
What's the wattage of the new PSU you put in your pc?

Thanks for your response! Yes this is an add-on (aftermarket) card and I've checked and rechecked the drivers for updates so I know it's not an issue there. As for the cpu being overloaded I don't believe that is the issue on the Itunes as I'm normally under 50% unless there is something strong running and it's a quad so I don't think it's anything to do with that(could be wrong I guess). Anyway keep the ideas coming I'm open to anything thanks again.

Thanks for your reply! Wanted to touch base with a couple of things you said, first you said the psu is under powered that's the first time I've heard of something that I think it could be I am on a 300 and was unaware that this card required a 400 so that could contribute to the problem(and if fact could be the problem). As far as the Itunes issue it could be the underpowered psu but I run flash vids all the time without issue, kinda felt like it was a Itunes/windows 7 communication issue because Amazon unbox works just fine(also have tried to uninstall/reinstall Itunes). but I know I've gotta think about heading to the store to buy a 300 watt psu, cause it's not getting any better. Thanks again.

Hello tonebonebgky, Here is the link to AMD that shows the minimum power supply should be a 400 watt power supply or greater for the ATI Radeon 5450 pci-e x16 video card you are using.

Can anyone recommend a graphics card that uses under 300 watts and has vga, dvi, and hdmi that is a pci-e x1 or x16? My power supply is brand new and I don't want to have to replace it again thanks.
