New power supply for m9400f

I have an HP Pavilion Elite m9400f Desktop PC. I am wanting to put a new video card such as maybe GeForce 9800 GX2 or GeForce GTX 280. To do this is going to require a new power supply as the 9800 requires 500W and the 280 requires 550W (I think those are the right numbers). My question is will any brand of power supply work in this PC or is it something that I have to buy only from HP due to dimensions?

Any standard ATX power supply should work with that machine. Keep in mind HP will not replace that power supply if it becomes defective.

Re: New power supply for m9400f

The GeForce GTX 260 needs two 6-pin PCI Express power connectors and the GeForce GTX 280 uses one 8-pin and one 6-pin PCI Express power connector.
Here is an example of what you need: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=2010320058+1388137628&Configurator=&Subc...
