Omni 27-1010t documentation for HDMI port

I can't find any documentation for the HDMI port on my Omni 27-1010t.  Is it HDMI-in or HDMI-out?  Can I use it to attach a second monitor?  And what are the other 4 buttons near this port for (on the right side, under the DVD drive)?  They seem to be disabled.

Here are the specs and factory configurable options for your HP Omni 27-1010t CTO Desktop Computer. According to the specs, this model has an option to add a "HDMI-in Scalar Card for Game Console." Please chapter 3, page 6, "Setting up additional features", "Using the HDMI port controls (select models only)" of the "Quick Seup Guide" for your computer, which states;

"The right side of your computer may contain an HDMI-in port (input only) and volume control buttons. Unless a device is plugged into the HDMI-in port, the volume controls have no functionality. The HDMI-in controls are only intended to control the settings of the device plugged into that port, and do not control any other media devices on the system.

To use the HDMI-in port controls, plug a device into the HDMI-in port. Press the menu button (the top button displayed). A new on-screen menu displays. Using the +/buttons, select brightness, volume, contrast, or color balance.

When a device is plugged into the HDMI-in port, the volume on the computer is muted. Pressing the +/- buttons on the side panel does not change the volume of the computer."

This HMDI-in port can only be used as an input with devices like game consoles, video players, etc. To connect an external display (such as a second monitor or a HDTV) will require the use of an USB-to-video adapter, such as the eVGA UV Plus+ UV39 or one of the many other adapters on the market.

Thank you for the quick response. That's great information, and I wish that had come with the PC. All I got was a 2-page glossy equivalent to the first 2 pages of pictures in this guide.

Re: Omni 27-1010t documentation for HDMI port

I use myhdmi port tfor my xbox 360. The port does not get sound so I have to use an adapter on the 360 to plug into my surround sound.  The problem is the 360 has an auto detect for the output and computer automatically switches back from the hdmi input to the computer before the 360 kicks on and when I push to go back to the 360 it senses the input change and restarts thus creating an endless loop of frustration. After 3 or 4 times of trying to get the timing right the computer crashes.  Is there a way to turn off the automatic switch back to computer or adjust the delay time?  I cannot turn off the xbox output detection or Ii will lose my sound.  If there is not, how can I get my sound to work through the computer.
