Pavilion 754n GeForce 8400GS PCI

Before I added the 8400GS PCI card I unistalled the onboard Intel graphics driver and reset BIOS to PCI. I installed the 8400GS and the latest Nvidia drivers. Now each time I boot in XP Pro it tries to install the onboard Intel drivers. So I uninstall and disable again in Device Manager. The next time I boot it starts all over again. Is this normal?

Also I am running Win 7 RC on a second drive. I have the same problem in Win 7, only it will actually reboot the computer when it is idle, because of the missing drivers for onboard graphics controller. ??

As a side note: I tried a Nvidia 6200 AGP graphics card and did not experience any problems.

Specifications:

Pavilion 754n, DA193A-ABA, Intel P4 CPU 2.53GHz, Intel 845G Chipset, MS-6577 (Xenon 3) MOB, 1GB Ram, Integrated Intel Extreme Graphics, Nvidia GeForce 8400GS PCI, 400W PSU, Dual Boot XP Pro & Win 7 RC x86.

Re: Pavilion 754n GeForce 8400GS PCI

Let it. The BIOS should default to the PCI, and Windows will then allow you to use the 8400. Windows is probably trying to select the highest performing device, as before you install the nvidia drivers the 8400 will appear as a 'standard VGA card' with v. low performance.
