Pavilion A6437c randomly will not power up

I love my new A6437c (when it's working, that is). It'll work fine for several days at a time, then one day it won't power up. The PowerOn switch does light up, but the hard drive does not spin, there's no POST screen, nothing working but the Power light. A half dozen attempts at power on/off will not make it come up normally. I'll get frustrated, wait a few days, then try again and it may come up first try. Aargh! What's going on?

The latest call to support says it may be an overheating problem; but how does that explain its being OFF for a week in a cool home office environment, then not powering up?
