Pavilion Elite hi-1280t Hard drive issue

When I do a control I and go into setup which shows the new third sata hard drive I installed.  They all say non raid disk to the right.  It also has an option to create a raid volumn starting on the 0 solid state drive.  The new drive is not shown in windows 7.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

Re: Pavilion Elite hi-1280t Hard drive issue

What was the original hard disk configration? What have you done and what are you trying to do?

Your statements are not exactly clear in terms of the sequence of events so please rephrase them.

Re: Pavilion Elite hi-1280t Hard drive issue

I installed a Seagate model st 1000DM003 as the 3rd drive. I think the two original drives were set up as Raid. I'm trying to configure the on I installed so it will be visable in window 7. I can back up to it. I started with 0 as solid state drive, 1 as 1 ter bite hard drive and I installed 3 as a 1 ter bite hard drive for back up. The drives are sata.
Thanks

Re: Pavilion Elite hi-1280t Hard drive issue

Do you mean h8-1280t instead of what you posted as your PC product name? There is no hi-1280t sold by HP..

This appears to be a CTO (Configure to order) desktop. What was the original config? Did you have a pair of SSD's?

Type Computer  in the Search programs and files box, select and click on Computer management in the Programs that appear above and then select and then click on Disk management in the left pane of the tree. You should now have a view and status of your installed hard disks in the middle upper and lower section of the Computer Management window.  Use the Windows snipping tool to save and post the image here.

compmgmt.png

In that windows you can right click on the drive that is your new addition. That will invoke the options available for the new drive. You can create a simple or dynamic volume and format the drive amongst other options. Make certain you have given the drive a recognizable name so you do not wipe out your operating system by mistake. :smileywink: (I know the example name is silly in today's terms)
