Pavilion a1140n HDD replacement - help

Hello,

The 250 GB hard drive (SATA) in my Pavilion crashed. I bought a replacement SATA HDD, but have hit an obstacle in replacing the bad drive.  I can remove one side panel to get at the screws holding the drive in place, but cannot get at the screws from the other side as the panel seems to be permanently fastened in place. 

Any clues as to how to proceed?  I have a good image backup and a new HDD, I just can't physically replace the drive.
